UHS - General Information

Founded in 1955, Union Health Service, Inc. is a state certified, group practice Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), A Voluntary Health Service provider, and a Health Care Prepayment Plan (HCPP). Union Health Service is Chicago's HMO pioneer. UHS has been in the health care field for over forty-six years. UHS was the first Health Maintenance Organization in the state of Illinois. UHS is a Staff Model health maintenance organization; therefore we provide the health benefits at our facilities. The pharmacy, physicians, nurses, and the rest of the staff are employed directly by UHS. Union Health currently employs approximately 70 physicians and 2 optometrists.
